I have been down on several occasions but have not seen anyone there I know. I started walking last week for the first time and should be walking well in the next 4-6 months.
As for kiting, just need to convince the wife and kids that i will be OK and im ther next summer for sure.

A few social drinks over winter so we can complain about the wind to those who understand would be good - We have pretty much packed up our gear for the winter :(

But this week has been some of the best wind of the season !!!

Nice and warm and sunny in the day - stick on a 4/3 steamer and you almost spontaneously combust is so toasty warm

Mind you - its a bit extreme out there today - 40+ knot gusts - I'll opt for self preservation, rest up and get a full day in tomorrow with any luck

The main drama with melb winter kiting is the fact that its mainly only good in a northerly - otherwise its dangerous gusty west or antarctic south - kiting with the penguins.

I have been in canbrra for the weekend and there is no where there to kite even if there was wind!

I don't like the cold and messed up wind might get a couple of days in but unlikely

The pub still sounds good to me even if those who like the cold are still kiting it is dark so early now they could still come for a drink!

Yeah a bit short notice for tonight and since you wanted to make it 06:00 which is 6am then that has already passed...

I think that maybe a new pink Waroo would suit best then you can play your little bear games

I hope you guys appreciate that I can no longer be seen to condone the ad hoc lumping of Waroos into the gay genre'.

Not only am I then singled out as abusing my customers, I am also at odds now with the sea park in Qld. that have (in a most politically correct manner) changed the names of "Fairy" penguins to "Little Penguins.

Therefore in order to address these concerns.

All 'BOW' type kites will be refered to as LITTLE. I am already thinking that some among you may be already reflecting this title to the owners. Stop IT.

And.

how Best Kiteboarding manages to adapt this new terminology to their marketing style, will be meet with much anticipation.

What a repulsive idea! I'll wear many names, but I'll have no-one ever call me a "little kiter". It's absurd and insulting!

It is therefore in the interest of all kiters that I will graciously accept, and fly with pride, a free PINK Waroo from Best Kiteboarding.

I know that there are many that would cower merely at the thought but, in the interest of all passionate kiters, I alone will burden the stigma. I alone will set you free.

Awwwwww WHAT!?!?!?!? No free bow-kite?

All the pimps have been trying so hard to persuade me into becoming a Bow-kiter, but my banks account just won't let me cross the line... someone suggested selling my arse. Hmmmmmnnn guess I know the value of it now. Sweet FA!

That's it, bugger ya's all, I'm going back into the C-kiters closet!(The "C" is for Closet isn't it?)

Now that is one garment that I've never understood... especially the fasination middle aged men have with it. The very thought makes me shivver! And that's before we consider the water temperature!

Although, if you'll be my kite-daddy...

Was out at Brighton Sunday last; it just blew and blew all day.

Smooth and ~20 knots most of the arvo and I was out there havin' a ball, but then 3 guys blew past on a downwinder to(I'm guessing)St Kilda. All I could think was D'OH!!!

So I thought I'd bump this back up to the top of the forum to see who's interested.

Mind you it just won't be the same since this thread's instigator has departed to the Sandgroping state and we are now AzzA-less.

Sniff... no more FrankenKite weaving drunkenly across the sky,(and yet which, when you glance 'neath it, appears remarkably elegant and precise in comparison to it's pilot's riding style).

Nevertheless I guess I'll just have to ride badly and make a fool of myself in his stead.

Hope you're doing well out there in the big blue off WA Azza, and that the sailors are being gentle with you.

And to everyone else - see y'all out on the water heading downwind somewheres soon!

Hi Waterboy,

Good idea to "bump this back up to the top"

I was out at Brighton with you this sunday and when I saw these guys going downwind in the distance I told to my wife who just arrived: "Go to Elwood beach with the car, I'll catch you there..."
But after a fantastic 3 hour session, I must admit I was pretty cold and tired so I decided not to go ... especially because I was alone. I could have asked someone to come along, sure, but it wouldn't have been easy to stop you guys from riding to answer the question.

So I'm in for a downwind ride this WE, so far we've got a "West to southwesterly winds increasing to 20 to 25 knots during the day" on Saturday according to the BOM... this sounds very good

Any other enthusiasts ?

Cheers,

Georges'
