So what makes someone want to cite evidence in a city council meeting or whatnot to ban kiting? It would'nt be all the city and metro kiters who insist on all going to the exact same spot, riding amoungst crowded beaches and scaring swimmers in popular beaches would it???
Just a thought as im literaly sick of reading about this topic over and over. If it has gotten to the stage as mentioned in the qoute above, its too late people. someone is already pissed right off at us, as a whole, and crying on here isnt gonna help.
Shayne86, I am not sure what your point is. What happens is this:
1. A kiter does something irresponsible - like going over 5 knots within 50m of swimmer, or worse still colliding with a swimmer ("I didn't see them your honour . . .")
2. A member of the public (could be someone on the beach or the swimmer) complains to the Water Police and/or the local council
3. Water Police and/or local council assess the situation, including all available evidence.
4. Someone posts about issue on Seabreeze. Maybe they say "stupid swimmers should keep out of my way, how dare they swim at my kiting location".
5. The post is recorded from SB by people hostile to kitesurfing and becomes part of the evidence considered by the Water Police and/or local government - and does not reflect at all well on the entire kitesurfing community. This would be considered relevant evidence.
6. Worst case scenario, kitesurfing is then banned at the location in question.
So, if in doubt, STFU.
