If I owned a Rebel I'd probably be talking and talking about it too.. they ARE that good IMO.

Most kites are hyped beyond a kn joke. Although I don't ride heaps of diff kites the Rebel is the first kite that has made me sit up and woot woot for some time.

Alas, not enough spendies in the pocket to buy a 2012 Rebel for me... yet.

Thumb away but at least Eppo isn't on the payroll and pimping a kite for $$$.

Same can't be said of some people in the previous 3-4 pages.

Thats a lie. according to most of the BWS people here, all the 2012 north rebel owners just bought crappy quality over-priced kites and now we're trying to justify to ourselves why we bought them.

What is obvious about this is that most of the BWS riders must get extra discount through red thumbs because every time someone posts anything remotely negative about BWS (even if it happens to be true), they get red thumbed more than someone who parks in the handicapped zone.

Why would you spend a fortune on kite that has so many problems with its bar and line system.(see other thread/s re north bar and lines.) No one said they are crap kites though, just expensive. Pity BWS dont make a 5 line bar set up, then you guys could use that with your North Rebels and wont have any problems.

Well i Intend to get entertained by riding one of the kites this thread is about. Your offering of light entertainment is peculiar and remarkably stupid. Get riding, then comment on your observations, I'm starting to think we need another forum that culls such ignorance and keep it focussed on what this forum was originally about. Cheap laughs, you must be a very strange little man. Ridden a rebel or a bws, what was your technical oberservations? Or is this another opportunity for your strange attempt at humor?

Yeh mask you may have a point about the bars although I haven't had any trouble myself. There are better bars out there. But you don't buy a kite on how good it's bar is? The performance of the kite is surely what matters. I also agree they are expensive. I'm willing to pay though for performance, but yes you would think with the economies of scale driven by increasing sales would have lowered the price by now. But maybe the technological innovations and quality of material used has negated this. Who knows.

Their prices will come down in the next yr or two. They will have to as there is more and more competition from good quality cheaper kites.
Who knows, maybe my next kite will be a Rebel?

Yeh agree with you saffer. The increase in best prices over the years has confirmed this. As they produced a better quality kite so did their manufacturing costs, hence the increase in prices. In the early days we were paying as much as we do now, so prices in relative terms have probably dropped indexed to inflation.

But we still shouldn't blanket the whole argument with saying that cheaper kite brands are not as good for the user as more expensive kites. For instance back in 2007 to 2009 I rode best waroos and they suited where I was at and Did the job really well. Infact my bro still uses an old 2009 waroo and again it does the job.

But then I went on a mission as my skill level increased where the finer points of a kites performance became necessary and more noticeable. From kahoonas to cores to a large number of demos in several type and brands. The rebel suited my style and my need to capitalize on what a quality kite can offer. It was a huge relief to be content on a kite.

But I would not say that the cheaper brands such as bws should not be considered, for beginners and advanced crew. It depends on the rider.

But if we go right back to the start of this thread, the rebel and bws are completely different concepts, suited for different riders.

So contrary to some comments made I am by no means one eyed nor do I subscribe to others knocking the bws concept.

With regard to the bar, one good thing not mentioned yet about the fifth line is that the tension on the fifth line gives you a direct indication your lines need tuning. It is amazing to feel the difference when a set of lines have been retuned. Line stretching was not as obvious on the four line kites before hence I very rarely tuned them. Wish I had now. Makes a big diff.

But how else will saffer get to 2500 posts we can't stop now!

Ah thank god, a decent post from someone who has purchased and ridden one of the bloody kites mentioned. You have contributed to the knowledge base albeit always an opinion. Thank you again. Yeh I really liked the bws unhooked, it is designed for this and hence beats the rebel in this regard. I rarely unhook on the rebel, if I do it is adequate and useable but the the rides I've had on the bws are better for this, Infanct I preferred it unhooked. Agreed on the slowness but when you are hurtling down a 6 foot indo wave, barreling and spitting behind you, you want a steady slow kite. In Perth, well enough said.

North has the best bar in the industry.

Like the guy we had in the other day wanting a different brand bar to match to his North kite.

No slagging Saffer. IMO the North bar is right up there with the best of them. Im sure any inspection by any kiter would have them come to the same conclusion.
Just making the point that an opinion is just that. Not everyone is going to agree.
