really BWS??? my mate has 1 and absolutely loved it..... until he tried the rebel.
I was on EVO'S and Rebels,I liked both, the EVO had some issues with Drift and flew like **** when it had any de-power on at all,the rebel was by far the superior kite thats until i demoed the Vegas best kite I have ever ridden by far!!! I don't get in to mowing the lawn so this is all based on riding in the surf
BTW isn't the BWS is a slightly re-tweaked REV, fair enough its not as pricey as some but it's old tech
[}:)]

Ha, ha. Fifth line is tecnology that is a lot older.

Loaded 5th is actually newer than the bridle, in fact even the old 5th line, not even when it was loaded. Bridles go back to the original Wipika which was long before the 5th even appeared and there were a couple if different iterations that came out after that with other brands.

The loaded 5th then only arrived after the original bow kite was invented. It was North's answer to the bow kite concept.

Sorry mate, AFAIK, only the original creator of the thread can rename it the 'Seinfeld thread'... Maybe Laurie can help?

As bjw mentioned on page 7, like the show, it's a thread about nothing... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I haven't flown a Rebel for years but I hate the colours. I think this makes them fly badly. With lime green on a kite they never get enough high or low end.

You can fix this issue though by wearing boardshorts over your wetsuit then discussing this on a forum.

Not quite, the Rebel has extravagant colors. It makes the kite fly extravagantly unless you're used to a kite with such a varied personality. It's a little like dating one of those arty bisexual girls that swings the ball both ways, some guys like it, others don't. Sure, they have some emotional issues, but it's exciting side of the relationship makes up for it and the sweet wouldn't be as sweet without the sour.

The Noise on the other hand has pretty boring colors. This makes it a boring flyer, but boring is good when you're focussing on waves and not the kite. They're more like the girl next door kind of kite. She's nice, but your mates are never really going to be overly impressed or jealous of you when you're riding with it. Sure, she'll never cheat on you, she'll stay at home and produce average looking babies but you'll always be staring at that hot girl in the mini dress wondering "what if".

How much longer till we hit 10 pages?

I got flamed by eppo because I drop my kite -

Well I did it again the other day - and it got rolled inverted and completly did a horizontal rotation

If i was on a 5th line I would have had a nice bow tie or my kite ripped in half and a swim in

but on my noise it relaunched after copping 3 waves - the rear line had one twist around the front lines but it launched and flew fine which allowed me to finish the downwinder

So can someone tell how the 5th line is better in the surf

I think they put 5 th line on there as they cant get the kite to fly properly on 4
Flame on North lovers!!!!
( this should take us to 10 )

Actually I agree with you, you drop a fifth line kite in the water and it gets inverted, it is all over. Only happened to me the other day , so again your point is totally valid.
But the performance of these kites for me outweighs these this problem. What im saying is, why would you choose your kite based on the bar setup?. The fifth also allows for no pulleys...and along comes the ozone argument !

Hey tell me about the noise kites man, one of my mates wants to begin, just surfing, nothing else. Would you recommend them? I have heard some stories about build quality (from people I know) what you can you tell me?

I rode a fuel with a 5th line for years. Everyone would tell me how is was dangerous because if a wave would take my kite the 5th would rip it in 2.
My kite spent more time underwater than in the air, yet I never tore it in 2.

I wouldn't worry about a 5th line tearing your kite. I reckon it is just urban myth!

In all my years of kiting, I have only ever seen a 5th line kite torn in half once, and that happened to be a slingshot many years back before bow kites were even invented. The risk of it happening is pretty low in reality. We're not talking airbags here where if you don't have them you die, there is maybe a .0001% chance of having your kite torn in half.

Damn, this 10 pages is taking ages. I'm actually having to think of things to post about now

Thats interesting... are they the fibreglass battens or the flexy plastic ones... I presume you are referring to the ones closest to the wingtip on the rebel?
