Central NSW anglers reminded of trout season closure

Designated trout streams and rivers have been closed to fishing straight as of midnight Tuesday 15 June until Saturday 2 October. This is to allow brown, rainbow and brook trout the chance of breeding during their annual spawning run.

During the closure all trout dams remain open to fishing but those streams and rivers close to fishing include:

• The Lachlan River; the whole of the waters of the Lachlan River, its creeks and tributaries upstream from the Cowra-Young road bridge.
• The Macquarie River; the whole of the Macquarie River, its creeks and tributaries upstream from its junction with, and including, Lewis Ponds Creek.
• The Belubula River; the whole of the waters of the Belubula River, its creeks and tributaries upstream from the Cherry Tree Falls low level road bridge near Canowindra.
• The Coxs River; the whole of the waters of the Coxs River, its creeks and tributaries upstream from its junction with, but not including, Little River (note; there is an exclusion zone of 3 kilometres around Lake Burragorang.)
