Tough new laws for WA recreational boating anglers
From mid-October Western Australia's boating anglers are to be hit with tough new laws recently introduced by the State Government.
The new laws will require people fishing from a boat anywhere in the State to hold a recreational fishing licence ($30) and people targeting listed demersal species require an additional licence ($20 per day or $150 per year) when fishing between Augusta and Kalbarri.
Additional to this bag limits on most categories have been reduced and a two-month ban on taking any listed demersal species (such as pink snapper, dhufish and baldchin groper) will be applied annually from 15 October to 15 December.
Licence fees have also risen to $45 for any existing licences - rock lobster, abalone, marron, freshwater angling and recreational netting.
