WA recreational anglers reminded of snapper season closure

Anglers are being reminded that the annual closure of Cockburn and Warnbro Sounds to pink snapper fishing commenced as normal on on 1 October 2009 until 31 January 2010.

The four month closure is in place to protect spawning snapper stocks found in the Sounds which present an easy target for anglers.

The spawning season inevitably influences the number of predatory sharks also found in the Sounds and therefore divers and swimmers should exercise the usual degree caution as the summer weather approaches.
