Yes probably better to start another thread , so quickly , yes have modified my NP fuselage with extra holes to move rear wing forward and also put in M6 threads to take all the Signature rear wings , plus I also have modified the NP wind foil rears to fit as well. The difference is incredible.

Thanks for all the info
Has someone made already a feedback the new Gong Frontwing Pro XL-XXL?
Yes there is a review of the XL and XXL wings in the foil section of the Gong Forum.
Received my Gong XXL Pro wing today. Very impressed. Looking forward to giving it a go. Think it could be great with my Duotone 5M wing in lower winds.
Hey Sweats,
how was the first ride with the XXL / 5m Duotone combo?
First ride on the Gong XXL pro wing today. Running on my 6'9 Gong Zuma with a 5M Duotone wing in v gusty conditions (gusts 20-25mph). There was very light wind when the gusts weren't there. 9th session with the Duotone and loving it. The XXL pro was very easy to control. It never felt on edge, even at speed. Noticeably easier than the regular Gong XXL wing to get up and flying and to pump once flying. Once up it could stay airborne at very low speeds with a few pumps. Top speed was good for such a big wing. I'm sure it could go faster with a more constant wind. Looking forward to trying it in the surf as it felt amazingly easy to turn as well. A longer mast (I am running a 65cm mast at present) may be helpful as I breached a wing tip heading up wind by just tilting the board a little too much. It still gave enough warning for me to correct things. No negatives to report so far. A definite step up from the regular Gong XXL wing. Think this will be my go to wing for wing foiling from now on.
ps I have no affiliation with Gong

Sounds very good Chris, just checked out the Gong shop and find out, they're not selling a complete Foil set that includes any of the new Pro wings. Thats is not really the way to attract new customers I guess.

It's about the same prices as a kit or separately. I think the kit just comes with a $20 bag at no cost. I doubt they even have a bag for the XXLPro yet.
Like Sweet says they would likely just swap wing out of a regular kit for a pro wing and just charge you the difference.
Yes my common sense tells me too:
-Like Sweet says they would likely just swap wing out of a regular kit for a pro wing and just charge you the difference.-
But the answer is :
The Pro Front Wing are only sold separately.
In the pack you will have the standard performant one. Then you can upgrade to the XXL Pro with 120 cm span and a bit more cruising speed.
Thus I am definitely not happy with this sales politik.
I guess Fisdude is right, the issue is the bag which is currently much too small for the pro wing.
Just buy the parts separately then, or wait till there is a Pro pack+bag.
I can better accept a not fitting bag for a giant Foil, as the compulsion to invest unnecessarily in an old technology.
That's not an "older design". Just like a beginner SUP is not an "older design", it is a design more adapted for foil beginners.
I understand your position, as a good foiler you want foils adapted to your expertise level. But I am forced to correct you on this forum, thinking of people who will read these post later out of context: you do not want foil beginners to buy "Pro" wings because they would have got the impression that they are "better" wings in themselves. It depends on your expertise. Just as you do not want SUP beginners to buy a pro-level shortboard because they have read it is much better than a cruiser... which alas still happens quite a bit.
This said, it seems that for the specific use of Wingfoiling, Pro wings can actually be used by beginners: the steady pull of the wing make using a Pro wing less technical than for "pure" SUP or surf foiling.
2nd go on the XXL pro this time with the Duotone 4M in 15-20 mph winds on a choppy estuary. It confirmed all of my previous thoughts. Very smooth and easy to use with great lift, glide and good speed. Loving it. Hope to get chance to use it in waves over the weekend.
So I have moved from the original XXL down to the XL and feel pretty comfortable with it in the surf. It took a awhile for me to feel like I was maxing out the speed even on the XXL, but now I'm hitting the top end of the XXL every time I ride it. I'm not sure I've really maxed the XL out yet. Is the next step to the XXL Pro, the XL Pro or a normal L size? I'm down to 90 kg now from 107, so that's makes a big difference in what foils I can ride.

I have two friends who bought from Gong. They were excellent to deal as far as mixing and matching parts, overseas freight etc, etc. It is easier to arrange things personally than to go through webforms.
They have also answered my questions by email very quickly and courteously.
I hope this helps.

I guess it depends if you feel you need the lift of the XXL (because you use it in very slow waves, or for downwinds, or with a wing in light breezes).
If the lift of the XL seems OK with your new weight, I think you can get the XL pro, it will have more range for surf use, and with your experience you should be able to manage the lower lift at low speeds.
I have now got both the XL and XXL pro wings. Have yet to try the XL pro but will give some feedback once I have.
Hi colas
can i ask you what do u mean with
Plus the normal wings are not "old technology", they are built the same, the Pro have advantages but also drawbacks (they need a higher speed to fly).
Does the pro needs more speed to take off? Dont understand
thanks

Yes: they have less thickness (then less foil profile curvature) and less cord, so they stall at a higher speed, and they have less lift at the same speed... but also less drag.
That's the same for boards, fins, sails, ... each shape is a compromise made for a specific speed range.
basically the Pro are optimized for higher speeds (more top speed, easier to handle at speed), the non-pro for lower speed and ease of taking off.
If you are a good foiler, you have the technique to take off easily, and keep your speed on the wave by turns and better placement on the wave, so the Pro will only bring you advantages. if you are a beginner, the Pro will only bring disadvantages.

I'm sure what you are saying is true. But it seems more complicated than that. I mean how do you compare the sizes? Is wing span it? Or is surface area more important for comparison sake?
I think most reports are comparing Med to Med and LG to LG...
The original large may be better compared XL Pro because of the simular surface area. It would be good to hear if the same feed back holds true. I'm also wondering if the pros are better for the wind-winging thingy even for beginners???
Sweets feedback is great for me and has me convinced to get a couple of the bigger pros when funds allow. It would also be nice to hear what clamsmasher thinks as he's got a lot of experience on different foils...

Comparison: just the same as comparing Windsurfing sails, Kite wings, fins... Area is the main factor: this is why you speak of 3m2, 4m2, 5m2, sails, you never see the span of sails compared...
For all the feedback I read, Pro foil wings seem OK even for beginners on a Wing. I guess having an external source of power - just like kite & Wind foiling - provides easily the higher speed needed for takeoff, whereas it is quite harder for a surf foil and especially a SUP foil, where beginners have a hard time reaching high speeds on takeoff and angling enough their rides to keep it.
You should also take the stabilizer into account. You can change the stab to get more stability or speed or looseness.

Hi Colas
I appreciate your input. But now I am in doubt what to buy. the xxl or xxl pro, following your remark on speed.
On the gong website it says on the xxl pro "Vous avez des profils plus fins et plus de portance ce qui signifie que vous volerez beaucoup plus t?t."
So basically, it says the pro has more lift and so you fly much earlier than the classic xxl.
I have the L classic (80cm) for the moment and want something bigger. Both for sup foiling and winging. I can imagine as you say that for winging its not an issue as you have easily some speed, but for supping??
thanks

I tried once again the xxl while I was teaching people on a Foil Camp, it was very interesting because we were able to tried different gear.
The mast is definetly way too flexy, it makes the flight unstable, the glide is pretty good but it is super hard to turn and be comfortable.
Maybe you can get used to it but coming from a stiff mast I will never be able to go back to a flexy mast.

The XXL is the only pro wing size to have more surface than the regular one. But in another thread, "sweats" says:
" I had a short go sup foiling with the XXL pro today but prefered the regular XXL as it felt more relaxed to ride and was certainly not as nimble to turn. "
I also have the regular L and was planing to get the XL Pro for surf use. I guess the XXL Pro is great for specialized use (pumping, wing, downwind), or for surfing specific slow waves (tide bore), and as frenchfoiler said, it may also benefit a lot from the future carbon masts increased stiffness for surf use.
Anyone know what size or have a source for the barrel nuts they use on the Gong Tuttle adaptors? I had a tuttle bolt shear off and it would be easier to just pop out the nut than to try to drill out a stainless piece stuck in brass. I know its M6 threads, but I'm not 100% sure on the other specs. Is it 11mm or 12mm or something else?

M6 is normative, it means 6mm diameter but it also sets the other thread dimensions (interval, etc). So any M6 will work.
What you see stated as 11 or 12mm is the width of the head, above the deck then, only important to fit with your washers if conical.

I'm talking about the barrel nut within the adapter, like:

M6 is as normative for the bolt thread than for the nut... then you just have to measure your nuts for their diameter, which is what 11/12mm describe.
So if you had to buy one front wing to learn to flatwater SUPfoil start, would it be XXL, or XXL Pro? I know low aspect starts earlier, but the XXL Pro just has so much extra area...
Nobody had done a flatwater start until 2-3 years ago. Probably still fewer than 100 worldwide can do one? I've read that several people were very close, but could not do it until getting a 2400cm^2 wing.
il hoping that as technology (boards, fools, paddles) are optimized for flatwater starting, enough people will be able to do it that it becomes its own discipline. It would open up foilboarding to inland people w bad wind, just like touring SUP vs Surf SUP.

I have only read reports for dock starts, where it seems that the pro wings are better once you know how to keep a high speed while pumping, the traditional wings are more tolerant when you lose some speed, as the pro will sink sooner.
My advice would be to get a Pro, because they are reported better for powered foiling anyways (Wing, Kite, pulled by a friend...) so if you do not manage to start from flat water with just a paddle, you may then enjoy using a sail with it. And let's face it, even if you manage flat water starts, its seems so tiring that you do not see people doing it regularly anyways.
I guess you have seen this howto: (Eric is a to race pro, with huge paddle power). You could try contacting him for advice, he uses Go Foils, but I guess the differences between the high/low aspect foil wings apply roughly to all brands.
