Waterloo Bay, home of the 2009 Australian School Team Racing Championships have completely glassed out therefore resulting in the afternoon session of racing being abandoned.

Race Officer Louise Davis was standing by on the course, hoping that more breeze would make its way to the racing area.

'Some light puffs came through, but there was not enough in it to keep racing going for the day. Far to light and inconsistent to justify racing,' said Davis.

Three rounds were completed this morning Sunday 12 July with the team from The Hutchins School (TAS) maintaining the top position even after a loss to Christ Church Grammar School from Western Australia.

'We are a bit disappointed that we were beaten by Christ Church Grammar however we were experimenting with a few things,' said The Hutchins School Team Captain Elliott Noye. 'It was a really close race. We still great confidence that we can go the distance.'

Local Brisbane team Anglican Church Grammar School is now placed in second position after a successful morning of racing.

'We were stoked with our performance today,' said Team Captain Angus Rankin. 'This is the best we have been placed at an Australian Championships in a long time. We have our heads screwed on for this regatta and our boat handling is great. We have a new coach, Leah Gallagher, and she has given us a new direction and ideas that seems to be working.'

Christ Church Grammar School (WA) is now placed third with Team Captain Leo Showell describing today's racing as a 'confidence booster'.

'Yesterday we had a shocker, but today was a major improvement. We are looking forward to more racing with the top teams. We did sail differently today and found our legs. Today we focused on staying clear and being fast. It's great that it worked! We are definitely happy with our win against The Hutchins School,' said Showell.

Racing will continue tomorrow (Monday 13 July) morning with teams meeting for an 0800 briefing before heading to the race course. The forecast is for a north west breeze 10/15 knots which should showcase some great racing.
