America's Cup Hall of Fame Induction postponed

The Herreshoff Marine Museum and America's Cup Hall of Fame are saddened to announce that internationally recognized filmmaker and documentarian John Biddle passed away this morning in his sleep.

Mr. Biddle had been selected for induction into the America's Cup Hall of Fame for his outstanding work in documenting the 12 Meter era of America's Cup competition, and was scheduled to be inducted at a ceremony to be held October 23rd, in New York City. Out of respect to John and his family, the
Herreshoff Marine Museum and America's Cup Hall of Fame will postpone the induction until a date to be determined in Spring 2009.

The rescheduled ceremony shall honor John and present a full program celebrating the America's Cup tradition and incorporating a film presentation prepared by John specifically for his induction.

The museum Board of Trustees, the America's Cup Selection Committee, induction premier sponsor Rolex Watch USA, and all the event sponsors extend heartfelt condolences to John's wife Amy and his entire family at this difficult time.

The America's Cup Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving and demonstrating the influence of America's Cup Competition, for the purpose of education and the inspiration of excellence in the world of yachting.
