Audi King of Dockland series abandoned

After a day of heavy wind gusts across Port Phillip, which were mirrored on Victoria Harbour docklands, practice sessions ahead of this evenings scheduled King of Docklands SB3 series were called off.
When the Docklands Invitational series was abandoned earlier in the day, the belief was that when the predicted south westerly change came in, conditions would rapidly moderate to allow the sports boat series to be completed this evening.

Hopwever just after 4:30pm, with the Bureau of Meteorology 'gale warning' still standing, the Audi King of Docklands series has been abandoned.

Principal Race officer Denis Thompson said 'safety must come first'

Organisers are expected to issue a full statement overnight.
