Australian skiers dominated in a battle of attrition as Warlord yesterday won the Bridge to Bridge Water Ski Classic on Waikato River for the fourth year in a row.

The Rotorua team that won the previous three events - driver Kevin Murphy, observer Tony Bradley and skiers Daniel Campbell from Australia with Vaughan Hyde - had to work their way through from sixth place in the starting order of the annual Rollo's Marine-Yamaha-sponsored race after botching their time trial on Saturday.

But in the end they were too strong for the field, beating second-placed Fish City Racing by three minutes. Warlord has now won the race 10 times.

Fish City, driven by Hamilton's Ross Christensen, was towing two Australian skiers in Chris Singleton and Kevin Vahtrik, while Auckland boat Final Worx, which was driven by Tauranga's Simon Morrison, also pulled two Australians, Neil Rix and Matthew Wastle, to their third spot overall.
