The morning rush hour for the bakery on Front Street at Hamilton Island usually finishes rather abruptly around 9am on most days during Race Week, with the last of the late risers grabbing a quick coffee and roll before jumping on the boat.

But with the weak breezes of the first half of this year's regatta finally dying out completely this morning, the bakery staff have not paused all morning as the crew hang around the dock waiting for word as to whether racing will be held at all today.

Cut-off for the decision by Race Officer Dennis Thompson will be 1.15 pm for the Cruising Divisions and 2pm for the IRC fleet.

Looking around the docks it would seem that for some crew a second unscheduled Lay Day might be a lucky break after a big day of partying during yesterday's official day of rest.
