Sam Blackburn's place at the Optimist Worlds which finished yesterday, is by far the best ever by an Australian. Up until 2007 no Australian sailor had finished in the top half of the fleet and the best results in '08 and '09 were in the 80s. With 231 sailors from 55 countries competing, this is one of the toughest events in the world and Sam's place is a great result - all credit to him and those who have helped in the recent explosion of Optimist sailing in Australia.
