Boaters take care on Hunter River at Morpeth this Sunday

NSW Maritime has issued an exclusive use aquatic licence for the Hunter River at Morpeth this Sunday morning for a swimming event.

NSW Maritime Regional Manager Hunter Inland Sonia McKay said that the event is to be held on the Hunter River at Morpeth, between 6am and 8.30am this Sunday 9 October.

'An exclusive use area will be established on the waters of the Hunter River for 1km downstream of the Queens Wharf boat ramp at Morpeth,' Ms McKay said.

'The area is for use only by authorised vessels and the area will be patrolled by control vessels who will direct vessel operators not to enter.'

'No unauthorised vessels are permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by event organisers, a NSW Maritime Boating Safety Officer or a Police Officer.'
