Two former 49er sailors, Ed Smyth and Dan Slater, will be sailing the Open 60, O Canada, two handed in the Auckland Tauranga race starting on Thursday.

Formerly known as Spirit of Canada, she now has a new owner and has been given a birthday under the eye of Allan West and Dan Slater.

For the past fortnight they have been sailing with five Canadian Olympic sailors - teaching them how to sail a big boat and doing some coastal trips.
