This weekend the Canberra Yacht Club will host its annual regatta for trailable yachts.

Sailed on Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin, three races are conducted on the Saturday including an early evening race, and a longer passage race on Sunday, which makes this an unique event.

CYC Commodore Graham Giles said, 'each year this regatta has been held, we have seen growing fleets, more that 45 boats and excellent close fleet racing between the local and visiting yachts.'

'We have received entries from as far away as Lake Macquarie and many boats from Sydney come to participate. Also coming to Canberra, is Champion Yachtsman and Sydney to Hobart Race Winner Mike Green, who will be sailing in the highly competitive Elliot 7 Class sports boat fleet.'

The event incorporates several local class championships and Heat 4 of the Trailable Yacht Association of NSW & ACT traveller series which will bring nearly 20 participants, plus families and friends to the club over the weekend.

Many visitors store their boats at the club and stay a bit longer to visit the National Capital's many attractions including the Australian War Memorial, National Museum and the several Galleries, returning home during the following week.
