In thick fog, Thomas Coville onboard his maxi trimaran Sodeb'O, crossed the Lizard Point finish line after completing his solo crossing of the North Atlantic. His new record stands at 5 days, 19 hours, 29 minutes and 20 seconds.

Colville beat the previous record held since 2005 by Francis Joyon of 6 days, 4 hours, 1 minute and 37 seconds, by more than nine hours.

The World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) will be asked to ratify Sodeb'O's record.
