| Wednesday saw the end of the Australian Championships, the results have now decided the Australian team for the Worlds, which commence on Saturday.
Wednesday's action was as follows.
Heat 6 Today's first race started on a short course, in a slight breeze of five knots from the southwest. Unlike the past few blue-sky days, heavy cloud sent an odd drizzle onto the fleet.
After three attempts at a start, the fouth was successful, with only Mike Hart on Art Gekko getting the black flag treatment.
Two thirds of the fleet went left, a handful went right, the rest down the centre. At the top mark Alderson (No Bull) led Sheriden (Yes) and Parkin (****), with Goacher (TBA) menacing.
On the second work, Alderson paid the penalty for going to the extreme left layline, leaving Goacher to take the lead from Sheriden. All played safe up the centre on the final upwind leg, with Goacher increasing his lead to win.
Heat 7 The final Pre Worlds race started in a building breeze and produced the first clean start of the series. Arron Goodmans on Ffortune sailed an excellent race in trying conditions, taking an early lead which wasn't bettered.
This marks the end of the Australian Championships: Stay tuned for the Worlds reports from Saturday.
