Geographe Bay Race Week Day 3 Produces snakes and surprises

The Margaret River Sea Rescue Boat found a 1.2 metre dugite snake curled around a post in the outboard transom caused some concern today, and a professional snake handler was called to the boat harbour to collect and dispose of the creature (it was returned to the bush).

Other surprises included the disqualification of line honours favourite Eftel, which started prematurely. the boat was short handed today and claimed not to have heard the radio broadcast of the recall or to have seen the rec all flag on the committee boat, leaving second placed Steel de Breeze to claim victory.

The Thompson 7.5 InSite Racing continues to find the going tough in the face of spirited competition from four Melges 24's. This time it was Bullit who found enough pressure on the shoreline to build a lead which she was able to defend in the run to the finish, claiming the line honours/handicap double.

Foolish Behaviour was widely regarded as the line honours favourite in the jib and main fleet, but she too was beaten to the line by Gary Griffiths in Heaven Can Wait, which started well and kept in pressure during the change from south west to north westerly breeze, a change which caught many on the wrong side of the course.
