Day one of the Hobie 16 North American Championships, in Kingston ONT, had three races in marginal single wire conditions and chop.

The day was won by multiple time North American Champion Enrique Figueroa sailing with the young Victor Aponte, from Puerto Rico. Close behind are the Guatemalan team of Jason Hess and Hugo Guzman looking for their first championship win.

Rounding out the top three are Geoff Becker and Krista Hankins from the US sailing in their first Hobie 16 North Americans. Becker is a former Lightning class North American Champion.
