International Youth Hobie 16 Challenge

In a huge boost to Australian youth sailing the "challenge" will be held between Friday the 23rd and Monday 26th January 2009.

This is the second International Youth challenge with the first incredibly successful event held in New Caledonia in early 2008.


The 'challenge" is targeted at youth teams aged 21 years or under with racing to be held on the water's near Palm Beach in Sydney, Australia

Sailors from New Caledonia, Fiji, Tahiti and from across Australia have signed up to this prestigious event with sailors from Singapore, Thailand, South Africa and New Zealand also expressing interest.

Palm Beach Sailing Clubs Youth Championship winning team of Dean Price and Murray Grant, who placed 8th at the last Youth Challenge, are gearing up for the event as are Jason Waterhouse and Michael McCormick, the current Youth Hobie 16 World Champions, who will be defending "the Challenge trophy" they won in Noumea earlier this year.
