Minister to open Yachting Victoria's new facility


The Hon. Tim Pallas MP, Minister for Roads and Ports will open Yachting
Victoria's new state of the art training facility The Boatshed at Albert Park Lake on Monday, June 23 at 2.45pm.


The Boatshed will feature cutting edge training technology including sailing simulators, big screen plasma TVs and fantastic new training vessels.

The new initiative is targeted mainly at attracting young people in to the sport of sailing, however will cater for adults as well.

Variety - The Children's Charity is a founding partner in The Boatshed and will be bringing at least 30 underprivileged or disadvantaged kids to the opening to test the new facilities, providing great picture opportunities for all involved.

Others attending The Boatshed official opening will include the Hon. James Merlino MP, Minister for Sport and Recreation, 2008 Beijing sailing gold medal favourite Sarah Blanck and former Olympic sailing gold medalist and now chairman of Sail Melbourne, Mark Turnbull, among many others.

Other industry heavyweights already on board with the program include Parks Victoria, Marine Safety Victoria, Helly Hansen, Life Saving Victoria, Grow Boating and the Victorian State Government.
