Mirsky Racing Team in contention for World Match Race title

The 2009 World Match Racing Tour has reached the half way stage and the Mirsky Racing Team is in contention to take out the world title where they currently lie in fourth place on the leader board.

MRT has also retained its ranking of fourth in the ISAF World Match Racing rankings which boasts over 1800 ranked teams.

The 2009 World Match Racing Tour is set in two periods of events. With a successful completion of the first half MRT looks to the second half to take out the much sought after World Match Racing Champion title.

The next event is the Saint Moritz Match Race which is held in the Swiss mountains at an altitude of 5624ft above sea level. Saint Moritz is more commonly known as a winter skiing destination but for the first week of September is will play host to the world's best yachtsmen.

Following Saint Moritz the team then heads back up to Scandinavia for the Danish Open which will be held in its new location in ?rhus and sailing in MRT's favoured boats, the DS 37.

The following two events will be held on the other side of the world and bring the World Match Racing Tour to the southern hemisphere for the first time in 2009 for the Brazil Sailing Cup which is held in the popular holiday destination of Vitoria.

The next event brings the World Tour back to the northern hemisphere and to the tropical island of Bermuda for the King Edward VII Gold Cup. The Gold Cup is the longest running match racing event in the world. The event has been running since its inception in 1907.

With a month break until the World Tour finale, MRT will return home to Australia for the biggest match racing event to be held in Australian waters in the past five years, the Australia Cup which will be held out of the Royal Perth Yacht Club. The Australia Cup will act as a warm up event for most teams competing in the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia and will attract the top ranked teams to the waters of Perth.

The final event of 2009 for MRT is the Monsoon Cup hosted in Kuala Terrenganu, Malaysia. The Tour finale sees teams carry double points that will help determine the World Match Racing Champions.
