NSW Maritime Environmental Services vessel No.7 found the body of a young person at around 0830hrs in the upper reaches of the Parramatta River this morning.

The body is believed to be that of a young male who fell off the weir while crossing the weir earlier this week.

NSW Maritime has made contact with Police who are on their way to the scene.

The NSW Maritime vessel was on a regular patrol clearing debris from the river.

The primary task for these Environmental Services vessels each day is to clear the harbour of hazards to navigation and regularly collect more than 3000 cubic metres of debris.
