Oil tanker delays start of Sydney Gold Coast race

A giant black oil tanker, called the Diamond Queen, steamed up Sydney Harbour a few minutes before 1300 today forcing CYCA race organisers to delay the start of the 2008 Audi Sydney to Gold Coast race.

On the startline, just off Nielsen Park, the wind has dropped away from a healthy 5-7 knots down to 2-3 knots, but its still from the south west, so a gentle spinnaker start is expected to get under way shortly.

Full start story and pix as soon as possible.
