Rayglass supports NZ Offshore Powerboats

Rayglass Boats, New Zealand's largest manufacturer of trailerable powerboats and RIBs is to sponsor the country's 2009 offshore powerboat championships.

The event will be marketed as the Rayglass NZ Powerboat Series and will be contested at eight venues around New Zealand's North Island, beginning later this month and concluding in May.
Rayglass Boats CEO, Tony Hembrow, one of New Zealand's best-known industry personalities, said his company was looking forward to its involvement.

'We particularly look forward to the opportunity to be involved in expanding our association with New Zealand's premiere motor sport event,' he said.

'It has been our privilege to support New Zealand motor sport on and off the water, and we sponsor a number of top saloon and drag cars, including the current Australasian drag car champion.

'We are also the proud sponsor of Kelly Smith, winner of the 2007 and 2008 Superboat Light classes in her Rayglass Skater,' Hembrow added.

Hembrow described his company's sponsorship of the offshore series as 'a natural progression' for New Zealand's leading powerboat manufacturer.

'We have had a long association with yachting through the Louis Vuitton and America's Cup regattas and I see the Rayglass NZ Powerboat Series as being a natural fit for us,' he added.

Representatives of Rayglass Boats will be in attendance at all eight events of the series.

The series starts with the Taupo round scheduled for January 24.

Other rounds will be staged at Gulf Harbour (February 14), Maraetai (February 28), Napier (March 7), Wellington (March 21), Whitianga (April 4) and Whangarei (April 18).

What shapes to be an exciting finale' will be staged in Auckland with the field racing on Auckland Harbour beneath the bridge on May 2.
