The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania honours disabled sailor Craig Escott. Fifteen years ago Escott was regarded as one of Tasmania's best and most competitive young ocean racing sailors, a winner of the Melbourne to Hobart Race and runner-up in the Sydney Hobart Race. His sailing career seemed almost certainly ended when he was severely injured after being hit by a car crossing a street at Airlie Beach in north Queensland. But his doctors underestimated Craig's determination and the support of his friends on the long road to recovery, with his rehabilitation centred almost totally on his return to competitive ...
