Sydney's 2010-2011 Harbour racing season wet and windy start

Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron's harbour racing season for 2010-2011 has opened on a wet and windy afternoon with less than half the entered boats deciding to brave the conditions. Those that did race encountered a blustery east-nor'easter that ranged from 18 knots as they started to near 30 knots when the last boats crossed the finish line. It was even stronger as they sailed back to their berths at Squadron or the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. Sydney Amateur Sailing Club also held their traditional Opening Day Regatta, a non-pointscore race followed by barbeque back at the Mosman Bay clubhouse. ...
