Tasmanian Angus Barton has won the Laser Radial class and the Intermediate Single Handed division of the NSW Youth Championship sailed from the Georges River Sailing Club in Sydney last weekend.

Barton, a member of the Tamar Yacht and the Tasmanian Sailing Academy, scored three wins, a third and a fifth in the regatta, which was cut to two days because of lack of wind on the Sunday of the long weekend in NSW.

Barton was among eight young Tasmanian Sailing Academy members, supported by Yachting Tasmania, the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and the Dinghy Group, who made the trip to Sydney.

Between them they achieved top four placings in the Laser Radial, Laser 4.7 and Sailboard classes against the best young sailors in NSW.

In addition to Barton's win, Zac Pullen from the RYCT placed fifth overall in the highly competitive Laser Radial class with a scorecard of 7-6-4-OCS-3, while two other RYCT members Nathan Paul McMillan and Zac Petterd placed 7th and 12th respectively.

In the Laser 4.7 class, Oisin Asmal from the RYCT sailed consistently well, placing 6-3-2-4 to lose second place on a countback, while Emma Barton finished 7th overall.

In the sailboard division, Jack McCallum, also from the RYCT, lost third place overall on a countback.
