Tom Barry-Cotter returns to Class 1 action

'Maritimo 11's Tom Barry-Cotter and Pal Virik Nilson' Australian F1 Superboat Series - f1boat.com.au

Australia's Tom Barry-Cotter and Norway's Pal Virik Nilsen will make a long overdue, but welcome return to Class 1 action, at the Norwegian Grand Prix in Arendal (18-20 July) as the 2007/8 Australian Offshore Superboat Champions.

In Athens last year, at 19 years-old, Tom became the youngest competitor to start a Class 1 Grand Prix for over a decade, and with Pal Virik, formed the youngest partnership. Class 1's 'young guns' went on to impress, taking four, top six finishes before heading down-under to compete in the Australian Championship, where they proved to be the best, winning four out of six races to lift the Australian Offshore Superboat title.

Granted a 'wild card' entry by the Championship Organiser's, Tom and Pal will step back into the Mercury-Class 1, V8-powered Tencara that they raced last year, this time flying the colours of Australia's premier Luxury Yacht Builder, Maritimo, to race in Class 1 for the first time in six months, at the venue where they achieved their best result of fifth in 2007.
