One of offshore racing's top throttlemen - Italian Matteo Nicolini - is making a transfer from the Class 1 championship to Powerboat P1 for this weekend's Tunisian Grand Prix of the Sea. The Team Qatar throttleman will replace Lino Di Biase alongside Luca Formilli Fendi in the #10 Fantastic 1 Cigarette Evolution class boat.

Nicolini has been a veteran of the offshore racing scene for the last 15 years, winning 60 races and scoring numerous championship successes - including the 2005 European Class 1 title. He also designs and builds boats for the Nicolini Offshore company that he runs with brother Luca.

Nicolini's Team Qatar outfit currently runs two entries in the Class 1 championship - the Qatar 95 boat for Abdulla Al-Sulaiti and Nicolini and the Qatar 96 boat of HE Sheikh Hassan Bin Jabor Al-Thani and Steve Curtis MBE. The two crews currently lie third and fourth in the Class 1 championship standings.
