Dubai's Victory Team has lost their appeal against the time penalty imposed on Victory 1 for hitting and destroying a turn buoy during the BMW Norwegian Grand Prix, a decision that cost the Championship leaders third place and three valuable points.

The Appeal Committee found unanimously that the original protest hearing decision, and the related notification, were applied correctly and these were upheld by the Appeal Committee.

During yesterday's hearing in Milan, the committee reviewed the original evidence and further footage and statements provided by the Victory Team and found no new evidence to support their appeal.

The Appeal Committee found no relevant safety issue to mitigate the incident and supported the decision that the responsibility to rejoin the race safely was with Victory 1.
