Victory appeal against Committee ruling

WPPA Race Director, Rory Power, has confirmed that the Victory Team has appealed the decision not to uphold their protest against the time penalty imposed on Victory 1 for destroying a turn-buoy during the BMW Norwegian Grand Prix in July - a decision that cost Victory 1 third place and three points.
'The protest committee was convened at the last race (Romanian Grand Prix) to investigate the relevant details,' said Power. 'The decision was taken not to uphold the protest of Victory 1 on the basis that the penalty was rightly and correctly applied. The team had the right to appeal the ruling within ten days - and they have done so.'
It has not been confirmed when the appeal will be heard, but should the ruling go Victory's way and the original decision be reversed and Victory 1's position and points in the Norwegian Grand Prix reinstated, it will change the outcome of the European Championship, which was won by Jotun's Inge Brigt Aarbakke and Jorn Tandberg by one point from Victory 1, after taking their second win of the season in the Romanian Grand Prix last month.
