The reef, with all its little nooks and crannys and pointy bits; contrasts beautifully against the turquoise water as it's sucked up into each wave face. The waves, perfectly groomed by a gentle offshore breeze and swell direction that was within one degree of perfect. The surfers, fluid and powerful, with brightly coloured bikini bottoms and boards that glisten in the sun. The boats. The camera men. The judges tower.
