Who is still banking their Covid treatment hopes on ivermectin?

Yup

Looks like it has a role to play along with vaccines, good hygiene, mask wearing, healthy living etc what kami" mentioned in Japan). But there's no money in a non patent decades in use, drug.

It needs to be in the conversation at the very least but alas it is not for obvious reasons (serious amounts of cencorship).
This is not a conspiracy theory it's just the practicalities of business and big pharma are in business game of maximising profits - and so they should be.

Without profit based innovation the drive to develop new drugs would not eventuate. I've experienced this personally looking at treatments for my sons condition. American options make Australia look they are still in the Stone Age. No matter what you think about our US brothers, sisters and "they's", they get sh1t done.

that's the reality of the two edge sword world we live in.

Macron made a speach last night here in France.
All hospital staff health, aid workers etc must be vaccinated by mid September.
Anyone over 12 needs a health pass to do pretty much anything starting in August. PCR tests were free but you will have to pay for them now. This is too discourage people from getting tested regularly for a health pass.
There is a huge push to vaccinate as many people as quick as possible.
They said half an hour after his speach the website to book your vaccination was flooded.

And this is the kind of totalitarian socialism bull**** that's going to happen more and more. Governments taking away our freedom in any form and fashion, helped along by multinational conglomerates eager to make a mark.
You can't even walk around the lake or park without someone staring you down for not wearing a mask, this is such the fear they are creating and don't be fooled, this is with purpose.

For anybody that is wondering what the point of vaccination is, or with an interest in how this virus works you should watch this

Have you looked atbother countries? Like one of our closest neighbours? Whom we have a large tourist link with?

They're definitely past the threshold

NZ? They have very low exposure to the virus though, shutting both the international airports almost immediately, so if they don't lockdown it may well rip through the population. The government has backed itself into a corner by pursuing an eradication policy, as they'll have to keep locking down and closing borders. Without an effective vaccine, they've killed international travel.

Safe from... what? They don't care about other infectious diseases, but suddenly this is a bridge too far...? I guess you'll be cool with flu season lockdowns when that rolls around next, huh?

DIdn't disagree with the totalitarianism descriptor though

People are worried about their health and the health of the community and have the gall to stare at you for not wearing a mask.

How dare they! They may even want to go back to work and live a normalish life in unusual circumstances.

Or it could be a great world wide conspiracy run by people that can coordinate a big thing like this and keep a secret.

Interesting fact, roughly $20 a shot of Pfizer or astra Z , 12cents a shot for Ivermectin. Now before you get on your high horses let it be known I have nothing against vaccination, what I do object to is deception.
Why is it the health authorities can't agree on so many issues regarding the vaccines, why is it that a vaccine used for decades for several medical issues is frowned upon? Could it possibly be that Ivermectin now free of patent doesn't bring enough $$$$, could it be that simple. I have read some states within India are using Ivermectin with startling results in the way of recovery and prevention. I have also heard ( but not confirmed) the same use in Kenya, with the same outcome.

Yes a gall, just as I don't know if you're an absolute Richard cranium, you don't know someone's circumstances for not wearing a mask. the other paragraphs are just putting words in my mouth.

uhm I don't know, like people dying?

I still have lot of friends and family in Europe. Lot of them got covid earlier this year.
A relative (a male in early forties) has been in intensive care for almost 4 months and is likely going to die. Several friends of the same age as me are still recovering 2-3 months later.
I work in IT and lot of our support teams are based out of India - I hear almost weekly that someone lost a relative. Seasonal flu does not do this.
If that is not good enough reason to get vaccinated and wear a mask, I don't know what is.

Look, to be honest I don't like the restrictions either and I think government should push much harder for people to get vaccinated.
And those who choose not to, well you make your own choices but you should understand the risk and bear the consequences.

I can now look down my nose at you non- vaxed low life disease spreading vermin who think its all a government conspiracy.

Unfortunately I wont be able to look down my nose at you for very long, because
soon you diseased non-vaxed vermin wont be allowed to go anywhere the rest of us responsible disease free people go.
You will be like the smokers who can only sit in little separate closed off air tight areas away from the rest of society.

Dear me are you that naive. Read your history books and just for the record Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are not real. Governments are interested in one thing and one thing only - keeping power. There may be a side affect though of "keeping us safe". But it never has and never will be their primary motivation

But In all fairness, I feel a combination of all approaches (including ivermectin), masks, vaccines, health education ,coordinated and well built centres for international and state travel to resume.

lock downs are an easy sell, politically sensible but do more damage than good to the populations health and well being and also the economy (which are intrinsically linked).

what's not happening is an open discussion about such matters. The social media giants and cutting off any discussion from those that don't fall in the line with the current doctrine by a health system very vulnerable to capture and manipulation.

I think there is a real possibility of NSW not getting the current Delta cluster under control. And our state borders are too porous to keep it contained for long. Vic managed it with the alpha strain, but with tougher lockdowns. Delta is a different breed and I doubt the premier has the guts to do what's required.

I expect that they will open up AZ to anyone who wants it, as Pfizer is just not available at present. I wonder how the vaccine hesitant are feeling watch this situation unfold, hope they have a lot of masks and sanitizer.

An excellent ABC interview in late June on Ivermectin.

Oxford University is going to investigate the effectiveness of ivermectin as a COVID-19 treatment.Emeritus Professor Robert Clancy, an immunologist at the University of Newcastle, tells Paul Turton that he believes they'll find the drug useful, and that it will become part of our coronavirus response

Yes, seasonal flu does this -- and it does it every year. You just don't hear about it because there's not the same focus on it.

I'm sorry to hear about your relative. I guess I've been lucky, there's only been three of my friends who've had it, and they've all recovered.

Myocarditis, pericarditis, blood clots, Bell's palsy, Guillian Barre, and absolutely no long-term safety data. It *should* be up to the individual to do their own risk/reward analysis on taking the vaccine or continuing with non-pharmaceutical methods of avoiding infection. The problem is you can't, because of the politicization of this particular public health issue.

Cutting off -- on behalf of the gubbinment. It's literally state-sponsored subcontracting of censorship that they otherwise couldn't get away with. And they keep giving themselves extra powers to control speech.

Just imagine if a really bad actor got in power and started applying these same laws from the other side of the aisle...!

I don't know what answer you want that will please you. If you have a reason for not wearing a mask and people are staring at you, get used to it and get used to having to explain it. Its a small problem to deal with. Big deal. There are enough people out there that think they are special and don't need to wear a mask that I can understand other people asking them why. I don't bother but I can understand others doing this.

Oh come on, as if you aren't thinking its a conspiracy by someone. Your words effectively say that. Maybe there is a different explanation for 'and don't be fooled, this is with purpose' but it just sounds like more conspiracy theory stuff. No basis in fact, or at least no proof, just a feeling.

Delta is spreading very quickly in France and Europe but numbers in hospitals are decreasing daily in France. I think there are about 7000 now. That dosn't include ICU.
Wait and see what happens in the next few weeks. They are predicting numbers to explode over the next 2 weeks.
Lots of people in France that have had both vaccination shots are getting Delta. They just aren't getting hospitalised.
Maybe Delta is a good strain. Highly contagious but week. We all get it and get enough antibodies to slow other strains.
