I saw that Armie will be releasing info about a new "MA" foil range at an event soon.

I'm assuming "MA" stands for mid aspect so I'm hoping for some 7-8 aspect ratio wings that will have a lower stall speed than the HA wings while still having relatively low drag.

Does anyone have any details on the MA foils yet?

Where'd you hear that rumor from? I like it though hopefully it's true.

Anyone going to the Q&A with Armie? Would love to hear some specifics about any new foils getting released.

Maybe the new HS is the MA. Who knows. Only a season or two late but better late than never.

first shipping in december apparently planned to WA with a new 1200 1000 and 800. Apparently the 1200 should nearly replace the 1550. The talk was you could go a size smaller.
Way thinner and only small tips. Looks a bit similar shape then a Go Foil.

Definitely promising that they listing an improve including the new mast which should be faster. a lot of RD went inside with help of the america's cup crew.

We ask not to take pictures of the proto.

size could be from 1200 to 1250. that wasn't clear.

size can be compared as there are so many variables.

On mast design I thing the idea to put taper down low is not a good solution for wide span foils or heavier guys. Sure, perhaps the taper provides marginal reduction in drag, but deflection at the deck does not result in any offset of loads at the deck of the board, whereas any deflection at the foil end means the projection of the force is offset at the deck. I think this would be the difference to feeling confident vs sketchy. Of course we all eventually adapt to our gear and find a way to make it work, but when I rode mates army gear it I felt quite disconnected to the foil. I wonder if new mast is tapered at the foil end too. Maybe the best solution answer is just a shed load more carbon.

Was AR discussed? What are they specifically designed for? Pump? Glide? Speed? Turning? Winging?Surf? DW? All the above? Will they replace HS or new category? How will the compare to HA and/or CF? Was there a Q&A or just a short presentation without any details? Any mention of the DW board they're working on?

Stuck my head (and camera) out for you guys. Was at the WA SURF Armie and Oskar Q&A (great free snaggles!) .. new "MA" .. AR 7, thin and new lay-ups, est. Dec (great Xmas gift from the mrs) .. design for smooth carving turns with speed and glide. Poor night zzz so forgot most of the details

Oskar Johansson heading out with new Armstrong downwind board .. yes, its does glide and takes off in lighter than normal ding board winds ..

The new strong and fast 935 mast looks up there with the rest of the latest HM contenders, light, 20 on top tapering down to about 14 at the fuse and with tons of AC CFD tech invested so start saving $$$ people ...

More Armie, Oskar and Patrick action shots of all the new kit incl. the WKT board at my insta from WA SURF Safety Bay foreshore late yesterday ..

Was at the WA surf question and answer. Both armie and Oscar were really open to suggestions and any issues we brought up.
In fact we got to spend some water time with Armie and Oscar in Mandurah.

What struck me about Armie is he's a frother for water, wind and waves. He's rider driven. He's also a very generous character. Was good to see the bloke behind the brand and it's all about the froth.

I also got to see a new wind wing prototype made from a new material. He seems pretty excited about it.

Add in different size masts, tails, the new MA foils - there's a lot of irons in the fire.

I won't go into the specifics of the MA foils but they seem to tick all the boxes I've noticed in a number of similar aspect foils the other companies have brought forward this year, but with a splash of amrstrong voodoo.

I also couldn't begin to understand all the technical stuff regarding the new mast design Armie mentioned, but one thing is for sure - it's not just about stiffness. Stiffness is a by product of a lot of other design objectives and material engineering.

absolutely agree Armie froths wind and water!

Thanks Eppo! Was this event recorded? Stoked the new MAs are finally here. I hope they'll be worth the wait! Did Armie mention if the non-Performance labelled masts (A+) have had any running lay-up changes? Any release dates on a Performance 72 or 85? Hoping to pick up a MA1250 or MA1000 ASAP to replace my HS1250. Also glad to hear there're more tails coming!

From what I've heard there will not be a 85 High performance mast. Personally the 85 size is the sweet size for waveriding so I would like to know if there is any other reason except the commercial one not to make the 85 cm Performance mast. Thanks

Not sure if it was recorded. Doubt it - was more of an informal chat / discussion under the tent on the WA surf grass. Then we hit the freezing cold water, armie in board shorts the crazy bugger.
mast sizes were discussed. There will probably be a mast size close to the 85cm mark - lengths are still being decided.

He asked us about the 72/85 split regarding foil surfing. Most of us said the 72 can be too short and the 85 a tad too long. Oscar agreed.
I know Oscar had a 79cm prototype but as I said nothing has been decided yet.

maybe a 935/835/735 split . again no idea really. But all will have the new lay up and design changes.
oscar said the new mast gives significant better pump, speed and torsion control when banking hard.

aand whilst he's a massive HA fan - he was forhtingnofer the MA performance. Patrick used it in Lancelin and said it's the best wing he's used by a country mile. Was breaching not only the tip but half the fuse he said. But hey both those guys are accomplished riders.

I use the 72 for wing. 79 it's fine and can help in big conditions of wave but bigger than that not for me.

Yeh my son uses the 72 for everything. But even yesterday he had his first go on a 525 - and said he could turn it far sharper for bottom and top hacks than on the 725. This is a function of mast length. But then again he likes doing stuff like this to .

Personally I think near the 80 mark is good compromise for surf and wing.

And just to add. Armie also showed us a kite foil board for those who also still take out the kite and boost the weed off the foil occasionally. Looking good. Smallest will be 109cm.
Also a new hand wing is in the making. But might take another 6 or so months to come out. As they are working on something innovative as opposed to just another Vx.
Genuine bloke so I am sure Armie will be approachable. Bit like Mark Shinn who answers requests personally.

Yeh I actually got to see a 1.6m prototype of the wing down home (brought it over for his daughter to use). Uses a different material I'm not at liberty to say. Won't be cheap though. He was pretty excited about it.

Great shots! What fun.

The 525 is pretty fantastic.

Separately, I'm 100% in on a performance mast if there's one in the low to mid 80s length wise.

Just to add some more info on the MA I've heard. A friend was able to wing the 1000 prototype in Exmouth. He normally uses the 925. He was outrageously stoked. Next level he said. Glide a speed not far off the 925 yet turning was markedly better. Super stable in the turbulent waters (was winging a decent wave 1.2km off shore). Cuts through it he said. He also said he could ride it super high and the wing just did not want to breach. Blown away was his last response.

Any informations about the other sizes bigger and smaller?
I read before 1200, 1000 and 800. Is it true?

1250, 1000, 800 and maybe a 650 (don't quote me on that).

the 1250 rides a bit more like the 1550 size / area wise. 1000 more like the 1250 - or a tad under as my mate said when he rode it.
so go a size smaller compared to the HS basically.

add in the new modulus mast which will transfer the wings power far more directly. The old land wiggle test compared to the A plus mast is noticeable torsion stiffness. Compared to my original, the original feels like a pool noodle.

oscar was saying the new 935 mast there is a signdidant difference in torsion control and incrrased speed on the water. Far easier to pump.

everyone is after a stiffer mast, but listening to Oscar and armie there is a whole lot more to it than just making a stiff mast. You still want it reactive at certain tilts and mast depths.

Not that I got what materials and shape engineering took this into account. Way over my head. But there is some different materials and shape voodoo across it's entire length.

It's pretty funny, we went to that event all pissy and ready to jump ship, but left pretty much throwing all our money at them :D
One thing to add was Oskar was saying the 1250 version was quick to accelerate off a dockstart, rather than getting bogged down at the slow speed. If that wing can go off the dock, the 1000 should be pretty amazing in the surf.
Has anyone heard anything about new tails to match? I haven't, but not sure whether to get a 195 now, or wait and buy something that matches.
