Sorry folks, ended up catching a bug and couldn't go for test run day two with the MA205.

Like MAF wrote and demonstrated with photos, the 205 is NOT a chopped down 232. The outline is similar, but the 205 is more in line with the 195 in terms of thickness and has some crazy camber going on. I'm not sure why they would describe it as a chopped 232, that description almost kept me from ordering one.

This seems consistent with what I experienced with the 800. Also raises the potential in my mind that the 205 and the 725 or 525 might be REALLY good.

I've been reading a lot here about shims and pitch stability but have yet to hear any consensus about these MA series wings on regular A+ masts. Any advice on starting point would be much appreciated.

I haven't got on the MA foils yet, but the performance mast is a very nice upgrade vs. the A+... if you haven't pulled the trigger on the mast, you should try to go for the performance mast.

Had a quick cold (3C) rainy flat water session today with the MA800/935M/60F/205+.5 (red & blue) on the 60L at 6 on the tracks in variable wind (10 - 20 kts).

Thoughts on the ride: Very stable and fun. Tied my personal best top speed of 36 kmh and was easily able to get my fastest 500M at 32 kmh. Will possibly be my go to for racing over the 725 if the wind has holes, as I feel the 800 has a lower stall speed and more user friendly through tacks and gybes. 935 allowed for some seriously powered up S-Turns with great speed and flow.

I have been using the 195 tail with the new mast 93/800&1225/60/no shim. Wing and tow into waves and wind bumps, quite a bit. Today was my first try with the 205 tail/1225 flat water wing and it feels way better/easier. Loads of glide and pump. This is going to be good. 205 tail is worth the buy.

I hemmed and hawed a great deal about the performance mast but the length just seems needlessly long at 935 and the 796 perhaps a little short. Hence the 85 A+, that said I can still switch it out for the 935 if that is the way to go ???????

Felt the same, got the 935. No regrets for winging. Have the 795 for SUP foil and love it too. Winged the 795 and it felt very direct and fun. If I could only have one, I'd still be happy with the 795. Mostly. ;)

Agreed. I have both for winging but have used the 795 for about 90% of my sessions. The tide at my local spot has been really low. Using a sinker just compounds the issue of reef-dragging.

Ditto, would like to hear feedback about the 205 vs 235. I arbitrarily grabbed the 235 having picked up an MA1000 & MA1225. Still waiting on wind here on Oahu. Looking like a repeat of last winter, hopefully not??

Low Intermediate here. Found MA1000 very pitchy and porpoised. Tamed with practice (no HA experience), and sometimes get wobbles with 85 A+ mast (flexes) which are reduced by moving back foot a bit more forward,.

What stab and shim did you try it ?
What's your weight?
And comparing to which foil?

85kg, 88l FG, 85A+ mast and 60 . Tried 232 and 195 stabs, no difference in instability and porpoising so accepted it was technique. Eventually got the HA195 to work with MA1000 for winging in chop at mast 9, then tried 205 today at 9 which added front foot pressure approximately cancelled by adding blue shim. Gybes nicely so working on getting used to that. Bit more tuning needed.

Finally got to ride the new setup: 935/ 60F/ MA1225/235 no shim, mast at 5.5 FG75ltr. 18-25+kt winds.
Very impressive speed range with little to no excess lift when bombing down good size swell. 80-85% of ART 999/P375 (ultra short fuse) speed and glide but so much more settled and controlled. Goes to wind really well but extra length (935) is taking some getting used to. Had a few Bambi moments.
Also had a brief 20 sesh yesterday in light 10-12kt winds w/ Strike 5.5, easy peasy. Liking it a lot. Better winds forecasted for midweek, hoping to breakout the MA1000.

205, 235 MA tails. How are peeps finding these tails compared to say the 195. Lots on facebook, not much here on them.

Waiting for the MA tails to arrive, I've gone back to my 212 (chopped 232V1) only with my MA1225 and 50 fuse. It suits the foil so much better than the HA and is the only time I've preferred the 212 over the 195 for any front foil. It really gets rid of the pitchy feel and balanced the foot pressure nicely now that I've tuned it properly. Works great for both winging and SUP foil. Low end is not miles away from the HS1850. Top end, I consistently hit 22 knots on it even dragging around that chubby little chopped tail. Turns are sharp and flowy. This foil is unexpectedly turning into one of my favourites despite loving the HAs. It just does most things so well. Really hoping the new tails will be a big jump in performance over the 212. The 1225 will be unreal if this is true. Still haven't ridden the smaller MA foils.
