Entries for the 2nd Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Raced closed last Friday with 25 yachts entered, a 47% increase on numbers for the inaugural event in 2007. The race gets underway on Saturday 2nd August east of Green Island on Brisbane's Moreton Bay.
An entry in the final hour was received by 2007 IRC and PHS winner Wedgetail, owned by businessman Bill Wild. Wild is back to defend his title in both divisions.
Also back for the 2nd year is the regular Sydney racer Getaway-Sailing.com. Owned and skippered by Peter Goldsworthy, Getaway-Sailing.com will hold the Inaugural Race Record with the finish now relocated just east of the entrance to Keppel Bay Marina.
Keppel Bay Marina will welcome the yachts that will begin to arrive either late Sunday evening or Sunday night the 3rd of August.
The line honours favourite is the Reichel Pugh 66 Black Jack that will compete in her first event this weekend in the Audi Sydney to Gold Coast Race. Black Jack was recently launched by Sir Jack Brabham at Brisbane's Rivergate Marina.
Some competing yachts will line up with Black Jack at Rivergate Marina prior to the race with the remainder of the fleet at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Marina.
Keppel Bay Marina General Manager Kylie Wilson has arranged some fantastic entertainment for the crews upon their arrival at Rosslyn Bay.
