42 Below Mewstone Race. Nine of Tasmania?s most experienced ocean racing skippers and their crews will take on Australia?s southernmost offshore race this coming weekend, contesting the revived 42 Below Mewstone Race. The 170 nautical mile race will take the fleet from Hobart down past Bruny Island to the Mewstone, a rocky outcrop in the Southern Ocean, eight miles south of Maatsuyer Island at latitude 43 degrees south, and back to Hobart. The race starts tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm from Castray Esplanade, so that the yachts should arrive at the Mewstone in daylight, as the rock has no light. Competitors ...
