Day 3 (yesterday) was a better day for the Bandwagon team with an 9th in race four and 31st in race 5 to move us up overall 21 places for the day.

Sad really when you are so deep in the overall scores that a 31st moves you up the overall score line and not down.

As most of the top crews are saying - any score in the top 20 is a 'keeper' as many of the crews that were, or are in contention for the title, have a score with a very big number in it (50+), including now the earlier series leader John Bertrand who was over the starting line in race 4 during a black flag start -(so was disqualified and carries 87 points to his score line).

Once there have been 6 races sailed - one more than we have sailed so far, then all teams can drop their worst score, so there will be a big reshuffle on the score board.

Day 4 of the Audi Etchells World championships in Melbourne has the winds very similar to yesterday - light to very light but with a difference - rain.

This makes it very hard to keep the boat sailing on a close hauled direction to the wind as the tell tails on the leading edge of the jib stick to the sail with the rain. Luckily the Slam sailing gear will keep us comfortable and dry in these conditions.

The only time I have seen our brand new we 'all purpose' jib bought for this regatta was on the measuring table at the start of the regatta.

Normally we have the sail up in 14 knots of wind and it is the 'work horse' sail that is the most used jib.

To be into Day 4 of an Etchells regatta with very little likely hood of seeing the sail today or tomorrow is most unusual - unless the event is sailed in San Diego.

Looking ahead today has one race schedule but a good chance of no racing due to light and variable winds.

Tomorrow is much the same.

Saturday - the last day of the event - is forecast for 25 knots+ of wind with a fast approaching frontal system - so possibly no racing due to too much wind.

It could easily be a 5 or 6 race regatta down from the scheduled 9 races - all sailed under 10 knots of wind.

We will see what pans out.

Safe sailing - Skip Lissiman

The team of BANDWAGON would like to thank our sponsors SLAM sports wear, Club Marine boat insurance, Ronstan for their support.
