Nominations now open for NSW Maritime Medals

Nominations are now open for the NSW Maritime Medals and close at 5 pm on the third Friday in August.

The NSW Maritime Medal was officially launched on 22 February 2006. The medal is to recognise exceptional contributions to the boating and maritime community in the categories of Safety, Environment and Community.

Representatives of the boating community broached the idea in 2005, NSW Maritime developed it, the NSW Maritime Advisory Council comprised of people who represent a wide range of marine activities support it and the State Government endorsed it.

More than 50 nominations were received for Maritime Medals in the categories of Environment, Community and Safety in 2006.

Recipients of 2007-08 NSW Maritime Medals were:

Norman Muir Grant (Snr)
Paul Helmore
David Johnston
Matthew O'Grady
Con Sakoulas
Shoalhaven Marine Rescue
The late Ron Isaacs
