'About 12 people from a range of local emergency response agencies are expected take part in the hands-on training exercise,' Mr Dunn said.
'The exercise will be conducted by NSW Maritime's Manager Marine Environment and Protection in conjunction with the Yamba Harbour Master will oversee the exercise.
'Outcomes of the exercise will be used to update the local contingency plan arrangements and identify any equipment related issues or requirements.
'NSW Maritime has Combat agency responsibility form Port Stephens north to the Queensland Boarder, which includes the Port of Yamba,' Mr Dunn said.
Exercises form part of NSW's responsibilities under the National Plan to Combat Pollution of the Sea by Oil and Other Noxious and Hazardous Substances (National Plan) to have in place a response capability to respond to marine oil and chemical spills.
NSW Maritime manages the National Plan arrangements in NSW. NSW Maritime and the three Port Corporations are the combat agencies.
The Port of Yamba is located on the Clarence River in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Regular general cargo services operate to Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, and New Zealand.
