SOS Ocean Racing's Ian Thomson is now 28 days in and is two thirds of the way to through the Southern Ocean voyage from Cape Leeuwin to the southern tip of Tasmania. The winds have increased for him today currently gusting between 15 to 20 knots, which means he has started seeing the real side to the Southern Ocean. Ian may be covering more ground but also has to go through much bigger waves.
