Southport Yacht Club's new two-pronged management commenced last week with Gold Coasters Mr Dale Chapman as House Manager and Mr Brian Dawson as Marine and Finance Manager taking the helm.
Prior to his appointment with Southport Yacht Club, Mr Chapman was the General Manager of the Southport Surf Life Saving Club for ten years and has been instrumental in co-developing and managing a number of other popular Gold Coast operations.
Such operations included: Benowa Tavern, Australia Fair Tavern and the Runaway Bay Hotel in conjunction with such hospitality and sporting legends as: Bob Ell; footballers Peter Gallagher, John Satler and Bob Hagan; Doug Ryan; and Clive Kitchener.
'100% good food and service in a happy atmosphere is crucial to success in the hospitality industry,' Mr Chapman said.
'We have a good team at Southport Yacht Club and I'm looking forward to working with them and our Members to make some improvements to return the Club to its prestigious reputation of old,' he said.
Employed as the Finance Manager of Southport Yacht Club for the passed three years it was fitting that Mr Dawson be promoted to the position of Marine and Finance Manager.
'I have been given a great opportunity to merge two of my passions: managing the finances of a great community organisation and ensuring our water-based activities make a positive impact on the Gold Coast community,' Mr Dawson said.
Both men have been heavily involved in the hospitality industry on the Gold Coast and are keen to continue to restore, with the help of Members and staff, all aspects of Southport Yacht Club's services including: Waterfront Restaurant, Functions centre, Sailing Academy, Dux on South Stradbroke Island, Marina and Hardstand.
Southport Yacht Club's Main Beach Clubhouse is undergoing Phase 3 renovations until late 2008 when the Western side of the Clubhouse will be reopened with new bathrooms, reception, Members' lounge and Board Room facilities.
The Club's Waterfront Restaurant, Bar and Functions centre remains open 7 days.
