The fourth annual Sunferries Magnetic Island Race Week began under overcast skies with an east nor easter breeze blowing at five to six knots. The Race Committee sent the IRC, PHS, Multihulls and Cruising 1 divisions on the 22.3 nautical mile Four Foot Rock Race, while the Cruising 2 and Cruising Non Spinnaker divisions headed out on the 14.2 nautical mile Cape Cleveland Race. The IRC division was gunned away at 11.00am with Performance Racing following shortly afterwards. The other divisions followed.
